This CD was recorded at some of the World's best locations: The organ in Ratzeburg Cathedral, Germany, St. Sernin, Toulouse, and the Concert Hall at the Sydney Opera House. I have never heard a recording of Bach's D minor played with such passion that you think you are actually in the Sydney Opera House listening to the technical Genious of organist Peter Hurford.

I was not familiar with most of the works on this recording, however Widor's Toccata is played far too slow (a full minute slower than most other recordings) and the registration on Bach's Toccata & Fugue in D-minor (BWV 565) is a little strange. The rest of the CD is pretty good, especially the Toccata from Suite Gothique. |
