| Comments: | A very delightful recording of rarely heard works, following the time period from late Baroque to mid-classical. The instruments used have a particularly powerful sound, being made by William Dowd. One rarely if ever sees a recording of the 14 canons, but the treatment by the players make this a solid rendition. You can tell that Johann had an effect on his sons, as their short pieces are full of invention. The recording itself is very nicely done. Clear bass and treble with rich mids. Exciting! |
