The best period instrument recording of the flute sonatas I have heard. Barthold is the brother of Sigiswald and Wieland Kuijken, playing his transverse flute to perfection. Ewald Demeyere demonstrates how the harpsichord can sound when recorded properly, and provides a perfect partner to Kuijken. This is the recording of the flute sonatas for which I have waited a long time (and this cd was well worth the wait). One problem is finding it: it's an import (a bit expensive) and you might have to look to UK sites to find it. I was lucky and found it at the local Tower. |
