A very good recording indeed. No choir parts are done solistic like on Gardiner's recording. The tempo on "Benedictus" is quite fast, and the tempo on "Cum sancto Spiritu" is a bit slow. But it has to be told that I'm used to Gardiner's recording. Some strange violin phrasing on "Laudamus te". Very good soloists. The duet "Et in unum dominium" is perfectly performed by Andreas Scholl and Johanette Zomer. This is also the case for "Christe eleison", sung by Johanette Zomer and VÚronique Gens.

On the market just a few days ago, (march 1998) this CD has stayed in my cd-player continually since I got it. In itself a masterpiece, Philippe Herreweghe's and Collegium Vocale's interpretation is by far the best I've ever heard. (Sorry, I know I shouldn't say that, but I had to!)Key words are clarity, rich in details, (almost chamber music-like sometimes)and wonderful soloists. (Listen to Andreas Scholl!) In addition the work is beautifully recorded. What more can you ask for?
