It's an unusual way to listen to the well tempered clavier because this score is played on an organ. In my point of view, it separate clearly the different parts of the polyphony and lead to a fascinating re-discovering of this score.According to the record notice : " In the 18 th century, a careless translator made Das wohltemperierte Klavier into "the well tempered harpsichord" thus giving the work a specificity that bach had wished to avoid.Werckmeister included under the heading Klavier all organs, positive organs, regals and spinets. This reference justifies the interpretation of the Well Tempered Clavier on the organ".
It's just a theory but the result is convincing. The work is played on the the organ of the the reformed church of auteuil, a ligth and modern organ with clear and glistening sound. |
