Bernius is a very obscure barroque conductor. I´m only listened the motets with the same chorus and orquestra, in the "Vivarte" serie from Sony Classical.
This cd, from 1991, gives a excepcional recording of two seculars cantatas dedicated to Augustus III, Elector of Saxony and King of Poland. The congratulation vein of BWV 206 and 207 a (a rarity) with Augustus person, is reflected in the vivid and coloured orquestation. Bernius has stile with Bach. His BWV 206 is very elegant and transparent in comparation with Reinhart Goebel & Musica Antiqua Köln version at Archiv (more arcaic and faster, but no less interesting). BVV 207 a, have an intrumental ritornello parodied from Branderburg Concert n° 1. Recomemend. |
