This recording of the Bach's sonatas & partitas is to my sense, the best on an original instrument(a Benoist Fleury from 1758). The recording was made in a little church with a splendid acoustic. The contrapunctal aspect of this beautiful pieces are clearly exposed, and, more, the dances are dancing. And this point is one of the most important. The beautiful Ciaconna is certainly the fastest of the entire discography, but meaby the most beautiful. Never dogmatic, served by a finest technique, meaby "the" interpretation on period instrument. |
