Andrea Padova has once again impressed me with a world-class and exquisitely beautiful performance.
It is no secret that I am not a fan of modern (20th century) music. But Andrea Padova's outstanding musicianship has converted me to Busoni. Busoni's transcriptions of Bach's music are lovely and Andrea Padova's performance is completely compelling and beautiful.
His sensitive performance of the Busoni works themselves is highly musical and emotionally rewarding. His touch on the piano is powerful without being unpleasant which is a rare and delightful thing. I enjoyed this music like I never have before which tells me that in the past it wasn't the music but the musician that was the problem. No problem here; Andrea Padova's performance is delicious and dreamy, I loved it. Highly recommended.
