Despite the claims of "period-ness" of other recordings, this Suisse recording of Michel Corboz seems to convey the underlying, hidden, seething drama of the Baroque. This is a late 70's recording, but it is, nonetheless, wonderful. Kurt Equiluz is without peer as the Evangelist. The instrumentalists get the respect they deserve, as well. |
