Absolutely awe-inspiring recording, Eliot Fisk plays in such a baroque style he makes it hard to believe this work was not intended for the modern guitar, fantastic recording made in a church in the UK buy the legendary John Taylor. I am quite amazed this CD has not already been reviewed. Toby Cockburn

A kinder, gentler version of these violin pieces. As Fisk points out in the liner notes, Bach himself reworked several of these pieces for other instruments, often in a lower register. Problems with playing chords are eliminated on the guitar and they ring longer as well. Fisk's supple right hand allows him to bring out the counterpoint by varying the tone and articulation. Excellent recording! |
