| Comments: | Listen to this recording if you really want to know what a good (Flemish) harpsichord sounds like. I have spend years restoring harpsichords and found that seldom do recordings do justice to the instrument. This recording is one exception. The instrument is a beautiful Flemish double manual built in 1636 by Andreas Ruckers, with revalement by Hemsch in 1763. The instrument has a tonal range that is incomperable and a clarity that can fill a major concert hall. The instrument was restored as faithfully as was possible without the compromises to playability so prevalent. Genneth Gilbert shows his skill and his love for this instrument in this beautiful and expressive recording. |
