Performance: Outstanding
Recording: Excellent
Glossa is one of those record labels that releases music of such high quality that I tend to buy any cd they produce that I find.
Wilbert Hazelzet is one of the world's best baroque flutists. These transcriptions for flute and harpsichord of some of Bach's organ works are delicious. I've always craved more chamber music by Bach, and my wish is fulfilled in this stunning recording. The Trio Sonatas for organ seem to be a popular set of works to transcribe, as there are many versions by various ensembles. Hazelzet's performance is remarkably subtle and nuanced, with a gentle tone and lovely phrasing. Highly recommended. |
