OK, it's cheating! Although transmitted in the hand of Bach, these days, none of these works are thought to be by JSB. Two are by Telemann, one by J.E.Bach and three are unknown (and remain in appendix II of the BWV). Still, it's fascinating to hear the sort of works that JSB thought worthwhile performing. Helbich's forces give a thoughtful, well-played-and-sung account of these attractive works. Recommended if you're grubbing around the periphery of Bach's works. |
