This is a 4-cd set of period-instrument performances, but since it is priced at midprice the set is a wonderful value. All of the performances are beautifully inflected and lovingly phrased. The instrumentalists of course are superb, notably Marcel Ponseele on oboe. There are some inconsistencies among the various soloists, but in general they are at least good and some are excellent, such as Peter Kooy, bass, who appears on each disc. In short, everything one could want from a set of cantatas.
