A gem! Bach was apparently a big fan of Vivaldi and others of his contemporaries so he used to transcribe some of their orchestral works to play at home; they didn't have CD's after all. These are incredible versions of some movements of Vivaldi's L'Estro Armonico. This performance is also exquisite. Herr Hirsch uses all the harpsichord technology available and chooses appropriate stops for various movements and sections to make it feel orchestral. Brilliant! |
