Sometimes it's not a mystery how some superstars got to be superstars.
Christopher Hogwood has added this important treasure to his already extensive legacy of Bach recordings. This performance is so exquisite that I can hardly find more words to describe it. The delicacy of the instrument is matched only by Hogwood's perfectly nuanced technique.
And, finally, someone has chosen to record some of Bach's lesser known works, rather than the keyboard cliches that have been recorded a zillion times by anyone who ever took a lesson.
The combination of the instrument, the playing and the programme makes this recording a must-have for all Bach lovers. It's like a trip back in time to the 18th century to an evening of music in the home of J.S. Bach. |
