This is one of my favorite Bach recordings. Peter Hurford here plays various pieces on 5 different organs. This is an excellent recording. The registration is excellent as well as the playing. The whole set is excellent, especially the impressive Prelude & Fugue in D major (BWV532) and the Passacaglia (BWV582)

I think the registration on these CD's is excellent. The playing in some areas could use some touching up in some places, and the job on the Toccata in D minor, BWV 565 is not the best one around. I also think he takes a few liberties with tempo changes, but otherwise this is a great recording. The organs on which he plays are excellent, and have a powerful sound in the pedal, which I think is really neat! This is quite a recommended recording. | | Acknowledgements: | Thank you to the following for submitting this recording and for your comments: | | Date First Submitted: | 04/25/1999 | | Purchasing: | Suggested Purchasing Sources
