FANTASIE ET FUGUE EN SOL MINEUR, BWV 542 | | Format: | Compact Disc | | Record Label: | Calliope | | Catalog Number: | CAL 9798 | | Year Released/Recorded: | 1975 | | Total Playing Time: | 66'30'' | | Comments: | Anyone of the organ pieces Bach had written have to be played in the most dignified and saturated manner. This especially goes for BWV 564, toccata and fugue, which requires special attention to details of touche and tempi and choice of organ. Mr. Isoir plays this piece (especially the adagio) so melancholically beautiful (without doing any Injustice to the others as they have been interpreted just as well) that one can't help being drawn into the chasm of this incredible piece of music from Bach's youthful years. The choice of the organ is just right (orgue ahrend de l'eglise Saint-Lambert d'Aurich), the acoustics are lively. This recording, which is an instalment of a complete set of organ works by Bach, holds a grand prix du disque award, and the whole set has one almost all of the respected music awards. In other words, this is Bach "revisited", so enjoy!... | | Acknowledgements: | Thank you to the following for submitting this recording and for your comments: | | Date First Submitted: | 07/04/1997 | | Purchasing: | Suggested Purchasing Sources
