An emotional recording. As an example, the sarabande from the sixth suite lasts 5:16. More than a minute more than most others. I hear melodies in this interpretation that I don't hear in others. The prelude to the first is especially lovely.

The budget price is the best appeal to this series. Excellent historical recording, mastering and performance. The inlay notes are a very good guide trough this beautiful music. This is not Rostropovich, but Janigro's cello feelings are some of the very best I have ever heard. All the Courante pieces are perfectly performed, as well as the final Gavotes. |
