Disappointingly poor ensemble in places; often plodding tempi; strange mixing; some poor intonation in the chorus-- these undercut the often excellent solo performances. I wouldn't recommend this one!

Fascinating. The soloists' team is perfect (maybe except Ridderbusch), maestro von Karajan at his best.
