The much-loved cello suites perfectly translate to viola. Patricia McCarty's exquisite performance adds more beauty to these already gorgous works. Suite 6 is performed in the original key of D rather than the often done transcription to G. Her warm tone, expressiveness and phrasing are exceptional, I was profoundly moved by the beauty of this performance. This is one of those recordings where I stop what I'm doing and just sit and listen. In a market of so many recordings of these works by Bach, this performance on viola stands out above the rest.
