It's a shame that Silverstein's conducting and concertmastering have restricted the scope of his activities in chamber music where he really shines. His approach to Bach is fairly conventional. Although tuned to A440, the gut strings on his del Gesu give it a darker, less penetrating tone than most 'modern instrujment' recordings.
