Billeci said: This disc contains the most extraordinary reading of the c-sharp minor fugue that I have heard. It builds to a massive climax. When the subject re-enters in the bass voice on c-sharp 2 octaves below middle c, the whole universe seems to be breaking apart. The next b-sharp is struck with such tremendous force, she must be standing on the key. I'm simply amazed that this is an AAD mono recording. There is ample bloom to the instrument and only a trace of hiss and intermittent distortion. While the disc is not for everyone (I wouldn't use it to wallpaper the room at Thanksgiving), it's a must-have for '48' fans and of immeasurable value to pianists.
