This is my favorite recording among 30+ recordings of Bach Orchestral Suites I own, particularly because of BWV 1068. The woodwinds of LCN will amaze you, unless you're already familiar with the band. Extremely powerful, yet agile and subtle at the same time. But what will leave you agape is the violin solo by Fabio Biondi in the first movement of BWV 1068. It really has to be heard to be believed! I find it peerless at least in BWV 1068, although the others suites are also first-class.

Interpretations as excellent as the Brandenburgs from the same musicians but this time captured with more focused acoustics. Listen to the most thrilling ever account of the D major overture and the most heartfeltly rendered Air here. Better still, all repeats are included. A must-have for lovers of these pieces. |
