Comments:JD Ericksonsaid: This is a period-authentic performance of Matthaeus-Passion (BWV 244), with one solo-voice per vocal part, and period instruments in small numbers (as what would have been available to Bach at the time he composed it). The liner notes for this recording are very in depth, and all lyrics are included side-by-side in french, english, and the original german. Apart from the performance (which is fantastic in it's own right), the recording is of a high quality that I've had the rare pleasure of coming across. This 2-disc set is very much worth money spent on it.
