The second concerto requires a trumpet in F, which Bach never asks for in any other work (as far as they have survived). Therefore the trumpet used on this recording is especially built for this occasion. It's quite a surprise to hear. I can strongly recommend this CD ! Andrew Ashdown said: This set is fine as a whole. However (and I am a fan - Suzuki's cantata cycle is exemplary) the trumpet on the second Brandenburg Concerto completely ruinous.
