These sonatas have been ignored for so long that I'm delighted to see so many new recordings of them. Here is an obscure one, which I always find enjoyable.
I like the superstars (usually) but it's nice to discover an excellent musician whose performance would not usually be heard. Ryo Terakado has played with the Tokyo Philharmonic, Les Arts Flourissants, La Petite Band and Suzuli's Bach Collegium. With a resume like that it is not surprising that his performance of these sontatas is extraordinary. A truly beautiful interpretation.
Siebe Henstra has worked with several of the superstars (Leonhardt, Bruggen) and here gives a delightful performance with lovely nuances and exceptional clarity.
Sadly this cd is probably hard to find but I highly recommend it if you can find it. |
