Wilhelm Kempff's performance of a number of Preludes and Fugues, from Book 1 of the WTC is of the highest order. His Bach playing is very natural and has great clarity. It is a pity that he did not record the complete 48,for it would be one of the great performances of this masterpiece. Now we only have this selection, but it is one of my favourite Bach discs, one I listen to with great pleasure.
Kempff is an outstanding Bach player and this disc, together with his Goldbergs and Bach transcriptions,is one the best ever.
