| Review by Jan Hanford:
What an extraordinary recording! The rarely recorded bassoon is delightful in these transcriptions. The sound is warm, relaxing and very beautiful; Arthur Weisberg's performance is excellent, with nice tempos and amazing articulation.
One of the things I love about Bach's music is how easily it translates between instruments. Every musician has the opportunity to present these very familiar melodies in a new way on their own instrument. The bassoon works perfectly here and I can't express my enthusiasm more strongly for this recording. |
