I bought this during finals week about 11 years ago as part of a ritual and it remains the most listened to Bach disc in my collection. As some may know already, this is an all male chorus and there is occasional intonation problems in the upper register with the boys on "Komm, Jesu, Komm". It is not a stiff, over-perfect diction, recording at all as you might expect with an English boys choir. There is plenty of emotion put forth when interpreting these spritually emotional texts. BWV230"Lobet den Herrn" is the only accompanied work (organ) and it is simply gorgeous. There is very reverent singing throughout this recording. Of course, highly recommended! |
