This is Vol. 2 in a 5-disc box set from Laserlight called Bach Meisterwerke, hence the odd combination of works on this one disc. The other orchestral suites are to be found on Vol. 3, the other Brandenburgs on Vol. 1. Don't be fooled by the super-budget price: these are world-class recordings and a delight to listen to. The mixing is near-perfect; each instrument is clearly hearable and balance is well-maintained. Johann Sonnleitner is outstanding on the harpsichord in the 5th Brandenburg Concerto's solo for that instrument. |
